Dixie Cup
If you want to trace the history of disposable coffee cups, you need to start with the emergence of disposable water cups. At the beginning of the twentieth century, there was a man named Lawrence Luellen in Boston, USA, who was a lawyer and inventor. After the American Civil War, plain drinking water became more popular due to the growth of the Temperance movement. At that time, people almost used metal cups, wooden cups or ceramic cups to drink water, and most people used communal cups. As more and more Americans learn about the dangers of germs, they realize that serving cups are unsanitary. In 1907, Luellen invented paper cups, which are cheap and convenient, do not need to be shared with others, and can be thrown away after use. Luellen calls the cup the Health Kup. Later this cup was renamed Dixie cup. Dixie cup is a small disposable paper cup. It is the conventional container.
